Kripalu Yoga teaches us to direct our focus within to access the body’s wisdom and to live yoga on and off the mat. Kripalu Yoga’s use of postures and other yogic techniques help to reveal the true nature of who we are, with a focus on safety and accessibility for practitioners of all levels. As a former athlete and dancer, Kathleen infuses her own Kripalu sequences with both athleticism and grace, and incorporates uplifting and inspiring music in all of her classes. Please visit the home page for the upcoming group schedule, and see below for class descriptions and more information on private and semi-private sessions.
Kripalu Flow: Kripalu Flow classes consist of centering, pranayama (yogic breathing techniques), warm-ups, linked or flowing postures (asanas) that can be modified for all levels to build strength and flexibility, and relaxation postures and techniques to integrate the practice and create balance. All classes are set to music that can aid students in this moving meditation by encouraging fluidity and confidence in their own abilities, as they connect to the rhythms and the melodies. Kathleen’s aim is for her students to have a joyful experience and leave feeling uplifted, empowered, and inspired.
Restorative: Restorative classes focus on release and relaxation. Utilizing props like bolsters, blocks, blankets, and straps to support the body, passive postures are held for longer periods of time. This soothes the nervous system and encourages the body to gently open and release tension and increase flexibility, while allowing the mind to enter a meditative state, free of any resistance. Various kinds of healing music is incorporated to assist the participant in full relaxation.
